Suzuki Guitar Lessons (Ages 3-12)
Students ages three to twelve, NCGS teaches using the Suzuki Method. Developed by the Japanese Violinist Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, his method focuses on how young children learn through observation and repetition. Integral to this method was his observation of how children learned language and apply it to music. Students will initially learn to play their music by ear and through imitation of their teacher. Note reading is applied to the guitar at a tailored pace for the individual child.
By creating a truly social environment, the student’s private lessons are supplemented with Group Classes. These classes are divided by skill level and give students the opportunity to learn how to work together to create their music. As students advance, music theory, fretboard harmony and ensemble skills are introduced. During home practice, students are helped by the parent or guardian who observes their lessons. Students are also given recordings of their pieces to listen to at home which reinforces their lessons and practice.
