With the Fall Term well under way, I'm pleased to announce that Manchester Community College will be continuing my Introduction to Classical Guitar class. This is a great class for adult guitar enthusiasts who haven't had much formal guitar training. Those adults interested in learning classical guitar will find this class to be enjoyable and engaging.
Learn the basics of fingerstyle classical guitar technique and note reading. This class is for both beginners to music and guitar, as well as people who want to learn classical technique and develop their reading skills. You will learn to play simple and familiar melodies, basic accompaniment patterns and a simple classical guitar piece. Some break-out sessions, with an opportunity to work individually and in small groups with the instructor, will be included as part of the course.
The class introduces the fundamentals of playing classical guitar, as well as allowing more advanced students to continue to develop their ability if they've taken the class before or have had prior experience on the guitar. Group classes of adults are always a wonderful way for everyone to learn from one another in a fun and supportive environment. The class is great for those who've never played the guitar, or hobbyists who'd like to get a bit more instruction.
Over the course of the class you'll learn/experience:
- Basics of sitting and holding the guitar
- Fundamental Right and Left Hand Technique
- Reading music notation in 1st position on the guitar
- Basic Music Theory knowledge and how it applies to the guitar
- Playing together as an ensemble
- Break out sessions in either a one-on-one lesson or smaller group instruction
- and MUCH MORE!
The class meets on Thursday evenings from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. The start date is September 25th, and the class runs for 11 weeks.
